About Divine Mercy Eucharistic Society (DMES)
The Divine Mercy Eucharistic Society ("DMES" or "Society") is a community of Divine Mercy devotees dedicated to promoting the comforting and powerful message of Divine Mercy revealed by Our Lord Jesus to St. Faustina through annual conferences, retreats, and formation programs.
Adjacent to our El Cerrito office and center is our Divine Mercy Perpetual Adoration Chapel which is the source of our strength and inspiration. We assist in deepening peoples' spiritual lives by providing them with the adoration chapel 24 hours / 7 days a week to have a life-changing encounter with the risen Christ in the Blessed Sacrament and thus be more effective in their Christian witness.
Prayer without works is not complete. We opened Mary's House of Mercy, a home for single pregnant women in crisis, to provide the women their basic needs, an atmosphere of a family home, and help develop their skills to become a self-sufficient and nurturing parent.
We carry on all our inspired tasks through God's providence with faith, perseverance, love, and trust in God. The Divine Mercy message is simple, yet powerful -- "Jesus, I trust in you." Trust is the essence of the Divine Mercy message.
The Divine Mercy Eucharistic Society was founded in the Diocese of Oakland, California, in 1990. The society is a member of the World Apostolic Congress on mercy in Rome.

Purpose of the Mount of Divine Mercy Sanctuary, Sheridan Road, CA.
The Hebrew Scriptures tell us, in olden times, people built a princely dwelling to honor the Lord -- a place where they could worship the Lord, pray in thanksgiving for their deliverance and show their love for Him.
In our Faith, we have a long tradition of people hungering "to go to the mountain" to experience God and His Mercy. In the early days of the Hebrew Scriptures, Moses met God on the mountain. In the Gospel days, Jesus went up to the mountain to pray at night. After the Resurrection, Jesus met His disciples on a mountain that He had designated. And now in these days, the Mount of Divine Mercy will be a place where we can go to meet God -- a place to resolve the tension created between God's infinite promise of Mercy and the world's empty promises of fulfillment.
The Divine Mercy Eucharistic Society, an organization of lay people, has for its vision, the establishment of a "dwelling place" dedicated to the Mercy of God, serving as a sanctuary of refuge and place of pilgrimage for all to learn and receive God's unfathomable Divine Mercy. This inspired sacred place, known as the "Mount of Divine Mercy," is situated on a magnificent hilltop overlooking the San Francisco Bay Area in California. It is in the "wilderness", set apart from the hustle and bustle of the distracting active life, but it is still easily accessible. This will be our answer to God's call to honor and proclaim the Divine Mercy message – trust in His mercy, and be merciful. As Pope Paul John II said in his encyclical Rich in Mercy, we need "…to proclaim and introduce into life the mystery of mercy".
In these difficult times that we are experiencing, not only in our personal lives but also in our country and throughout the whole world, we need to raise up in prayer these needs to our Lord of Divine Mercy. The Mount of Divine Mercy is a witness to our trust in Jesus, which is the essence of the Divine Mercy. Jesus revealed to St. Faustina "…bring souls to the fountain of My mercy, that they may draw strength and refreshment and whatever grace they have need of in the hardships of life and specially in the hour of death" (Diary, 1209).

The unfolding of the Mount of Divine Mercy is a mystery. It is not easy for our human mind to grasp the inspiration of God, but the process shows the taste of God's providence from its inception, in the present and going to the future. It was our faith which gave us courage to purchase the land in obedience to God's inspiration without understanding. It is now our hope for God to fulfill it according to His plan and will. It is God who plants a holy desire in one's heart and He is the one who fulfills it. We totally trust in God's providence, which is the essence of the Divine Mercy message, "Jesus, I Trust in You".Our goal is to continue paying off the property. We continue to receive pro bono services from Mr. Salvatore Caruso, a Catholic and licensed architect for the proposed sanctuary. Mr. Caruso laid the basis for the project by providing the architectural maps and designs for free. With God's grace and mercy, Mr. Caruso's commitment has helped and inspired us to go forward with this sacred project.
Join us always in spirit to pray for the fulfillment of the Sanctuary of the Mount of Divine Mercy in Sunol, California, for God's greater glory.
Overview of Mount of Divine Mercy
In 2006, DMES signed a contract to purchase 100+ acres of land and in 2007, DMES closed escrow. This site is known as the Mount of Divine Mercy on Sheridan Road in Sunol, Alameda County, California. The land is located just off Interstate Highway 680 at Sheridan Road in the rolling hills of the town of Sunol. It has beautiful vistas that overlook the greater Bay Area and a natural grotto area. This site is 15 to 40 minutes from the major metropolitan areas of Oakland, San Jose, San Francisco, and other surrounding communities, and therefore, the site will be accessible to millions of souls. The property, as undeveloped as it is, is still a wonderful instrument for devotional activities. It is close to the city but gives people a chance to get out of the urban environment in just a few minutes. It has a high point with a view of the Bay Area which affords people a "going up to the mountain to meet God" experience. We have established at minimal expense the Stations of the Cross in the valley which straddles the property and have placed statues of our Blessed Virgin Mary and the Divine Mercy in the niches of a natural grotto which we have discovered on the far side of the property. In order to more fully utilize the property as it is, we have established 33 meditation stations around the perimeter of the property, and we have prayer booklets consisting of 33 meditations on Mercy written by Blessed Michael Sopocko, the principal spiritual director and confessor of St Faustina. There is a 34-foot wooden cross at the center of the property and a wind shelter and a trailer which was converted to a Contemplative Prayer House of Mary and Joseph where people can pray when the weather is inclement.
